Handhelds

I want to buy a handheld. Ideally, I’d have a Korean-English dictionary on it. Readers, what Korean-English dictionaries do you use on your handhelds? Are there any useful Korean applications that you would recommend?

Your answers will play a role in settling the Palm/Pocket PC question.

ylsul 01 Dec, 2004 05:44 PM	Hi! Personally, I like palmpilots. Diotek carries a line of korean lang products for the palm. You can see english info at palmgear. I ended up getting one of those expensive Sharp kor-eng/eng-kor electronic dictionaries -- they're great...plus it helps me learn to use a korean keyboard. (edited because second link wasn't working...not sure how I should have fixed it. kangmi)
ylsul 03 Dec, 2004 05:11 PM	Sorry about those huge URLs I posted earlier! One other note -- Diotek's dictionaries are the e4u brand -- the same sort that comes on the expensive Sharp electronic dictionaries!

Thanks for the additional info...I had briefly considered carrying a separate device for the dictionary should it prove to be a lot better than anything I could get for a handheld.
ylsul 03 Dec, 2004 06:29 PM	i got one of those sharp handheld dictionaries (chokum pissa!). i really like it. it has a little organizer, but its not the same thing as a palmtop.
dda 20 Dec, 2004 10:13 AM	You could settle the PocketPC/Palm question by going Linux. Get a Sharp Zaurus, there'snow a full Korean version available, with keyboard and all software in Korean (including clones of Excel and Word). Alternatively, there's a similar product made in Korea, the Yopi. Same software suite in it, more or less.
Pete 23 Dec, 2004 12:59 PM	My money would be on a pocketPC. http://www.Declan-software.com has just released their pocket flashcards and pocket dictionary versions. Not sure about the quality of the dictionary, but i have been using the flashcards for a while. Handy program!
강미 04 Jan, 2005 07:54 AM MSN: kangmi	dda, I would never have considered a Linux system without your suggestion. However, I had about 24 hours before learning that Palm may have chosen me. It's not yet in my hands, but it soon will be. I have appreciated all comments related to this issue.
