There’s no accounting for taste

I hardly ever watch television (it’s usually a time-waster when I do), and these days I rarely see movies (would love to, but haven’t the time. Books fit better into my schedule.).

So perhaps I can be forgiven ("she doesn’t get out much") when I say that I have enjoyed every one of the dramas I’ve watched. First there was 아름다운 유혹, then 열여덟 스물아홉. Now I’m watching 러브홀릭 and I’m glued to the computer every Tuesday and Wednesday evening watching VODs.

I waver between thinking “Who wrote that line?” or “That’s just stupid” and “I can’t wait to see what happens next!”

교회

인선’s leaving for the Middle East a week from tomorrow, leaving me without a tutor for a month. She’s been looking for a temporary replacement, but she says that everyone she knows is either leaving for the summer or pregnant.

I don’t have anything against pregnant tutors, but understandably they might not be up to my usual barrage of questions. So we headed to Korean church this morning to try to round up a tutor.

The author describes a study in which seven adult owl monkeys were trained to distinguish between vibrational frequencies. The monkeys underwent brain scans before and after the training to see how much their brains changed as a result of the training. The results of the study showed that the brains of the monkeys did indeed undergo dramatic physical changes. But there was a catch:

It’s probably just a fluke

Last night I came home from work and found my older stepson and his best friend trying to navigate around 다음. A Korean classmate wanted to show them some 태권도 clips on a 다음 카페, so he gave them his login information, without giving them further instructions.

My Korean skills have never been in more demand in my household than they were for those brief minutes last night before Sam showed up. It will probably never happen again.
