My daily language study looks something like this:
- 5-10 minutes of Supermemo repetitions.
- 5 minutes of reviewing a portion of a long-ago Sogang lesson (what I review changes from week to week).
- 15 minutes of studying last week’s portion of a Sogang lesson.
- 30 minutes of studying this week’s portion of a Sogang lesson. I look up new vocabulary, write out sentences for my commute, listen to the audio (10-15 times), and read it out loud (5-10 times).
- Tuesdays and Wednesdays I watch the latest 러브홀릭 episodes, 60 minutes each. While watching, I select a scene to study further (not too long, not too much dialogue). After watching, I record the audio.
- Whenever KBS releases 러브홀릭 scripts, I pull the scene I’ve recorded from the script and study it, noting new vocabulary and marking confusing parts for my weekly lesson. I might spend 30-60 minutes a week on this one.
- I spend 0-45 minutes a day on 한자. I’m still behind, but not as much as a month ago.
Until I get caught up with 한자, I’m not adding any new parts to my study program. However, there are plans afoot to increase the amount of my writing and speaking. Undoubtedly I will have more to say later.
Adding up all of those numbers tells me that I spend nearly 10 hours a week studying Korean, which doesn’t include any review I do during my commute.
