Tools for Concentration - Part I
My recent focus on concentration has caused me to reassess a couple of life tools I have already been using and how they’ve helped me maintain focus on my language study.
The first of these tools is what Julia Cameron calls “morning pages,” introduced in The Artist’s Way (I personally prefer The Artist’s Way at Work: Riding the Dragon
). Morning pages are three pages (no more, and no less) of longhand stream-of-consciousness writing, written in the morning. The purpose of morning pages is to unload whatever clutter is floating around in your head. If that’s your journaling style, you’re already doing morning pages. If you journal with a filter, you’re not.
